Table Policies
Table Leaving & Re-entry
Unlike many poker clubs and regulated platforms with strict “hit-and-run” penalties, The Aquarium has a relaxed, player-friendly policy. You are free to:
Leave any table whenever you want
Cash out your winnings at any time
Sit at any other table immediately with any buy-in amount
One rule applies: If you leave a table and want to return to the same table, you must re-buy for at least the same amount you left with. This applies for one hour after leaving. After that hour, the table rotates (see below) and the restriction resets.
EXAMPLE
- You're at a $0.50/$1 table with $200 → you leave
- You can immediately join a different $0.50/$1 table with any buy-in
- To return to that same table within one hour, you must buy in for at least $200
- After one hour, the table rotates — no restriction
We believe your chips are your money. Play where you want, leave when you want.
Hourly Table Rotation
Tables at The Aquarium are created for a duration of one hour. This means:
Tables are set up with a one-hour lifecycle
After one hour, the table closes and players rotate to new tables
This creates constant rotation and keeps games fresh
You'll face different opponents regularly rather than playing the same table for hours
This rotation system benefits recreational players and keeps the games dynamic. No more sitting at a stale table — there's always a fresh game forming.
Bad Beat Bonus
How the Bad Beat Bonus Works
The Aquarium runs a bad beat bonus on qualifying tables. Here's how it works:
| Game Type | Bad Beat Bonus | BB Taken Per Hand |
|---|---|---|
| NLH (No-Limit Hold'em) | ✅ Yes | 0.25 BB |
| PLO4 (4-Card Pot-Limit Omaha) | ✅ Yes | 0.25 BB |
| PLO5 (5-Card Pot-Limit Omaha) | ✅ Yes | 0.25 BB |
| PLO6 (6-Card Pot-Limit Omaha) | ❌ No | — |
0.25 BB (big blinds) is taken from each pot on NLH, PLO4, and PLO5 tables to fund the bad beat bonus. PLO6 tables do not participate in the bad beat bonus.
What Is a Bad Beat?
A bad beat occurs when a strong poker hand loses to an even stronger hand — typically due to an unlikely draw hitting on the later streets. When a qualifying bad beat occurs, the affected players share the accumulated bonus pool.
Bad beat bonuses reward players even when luck doesn't go their way, keeping the games fun and the action loose.
